Du’as and Prayers to Recite During Umrah
Umrah is a spiritually transforming trip that leads a Muslim closer to Allah. There are several major rites involved, each with suggested prayers and supplications. Seeing these du’as during the ceremonies helps one to become more sincere and committed in worship. Those who start this holy road should be aware of their prayers and keep concentration all through the trip.
Before Ihram, intention
A Muslim has to enter the state of Ihram, a condition of physical and spiritual purity, before starting the trip. The purpose (niyyah) should be expressed sincerely; thereafter, the Talbiyah should be recited: Labbaik Innal Hamda Wan Ni’mata Laka Wal Mulk La Shareeka Lak, Allahumma Labbaik, Labbaik La Shareeka.
This strong sentence becomes “Here I am, O Allah, here I am. You don have a companion; here I am. Certainly all thanks, grace, and sovereignty are yours. You lack a partner.
This proclamation validates the pilgrim’s allegiance to the Hajj and Umrah as well as their respect of Allah.
Du’a for Masjid Al-Haram’s Entrance
Once at the revered mosque, Masjid Al-Haram, it is advised to enter with the right foot and recite: Bismillahi Wassalatu Wassalamu Ala Rasulillah. Rahmatik Allahumma Iftah Li Abwaba.
Stated differently, “in the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me Your mercies’ doors.
The spiritual tone of the holy deeds to come is established by this prayer.
Du’a for Viewing the Kaaba
There is a chance for honest prayers the instant a traveler sets eyes on the Kaaba. Said another way: Allahumma Zid Haazal Baita Tashreefan Wa Takreeman Wa Mahabatan.
Basically, “O Allah, increase this House in honor, dignity, and reverence.”
This prayer respects the Kaaba’s sacredness and the direction Muslims throughout pray from.
Tawaf Prays
Reciting prayers and asking Allah’s pity is urged while one circles the Kaaba during Tawaf. Subhan Allahi Wal Hamdulillahi Wala Ilaha Illa Billah is the most well-known du’a performed at Tawaf.
Thus, “glory be to Allah, all praise is due to Allah, all deity but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power or might except with Allah.”
Sunnah says, “Bismillahi Allahu Akbar,” at the beginning of every circuit upon arriving at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad).
Stated differently, “in the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest.”
Every Tawaf round should be done humbly, considering Allah’s kindness and asking pardon.
Da’a at Maqam Ibrahim
Offering two Rak’ahs at Maqam Ibrahim marks a Sunyah after finishing Tawaf. The advised prayer is Wattakhidhu Min Maqami Ibrahima Musalla.
That means, “and take the station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer.”
Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha followed by Surah Al-Kafirun in the first Rak’sah and Surah Al-Ikhlas in the second Rak’sah is advised during these Rak’ahs.
Du’a in Zamzam
Part of the Hajj and Umrah involves drinking Zamzam water. According to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Zamzam water serves for whatever objective one consumes it for. Reciting a common prayer while drinking Zamzam is Allahumma Inni As’saluka Ilman Naafi’s wa Rizqan Wasi’s wa Shifa’san Min Kulli Daa’in.
Put otherwise, “O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and cure from every disease.”
Du’a between Marwah and Safa
Sunnah is to recite the following verse when climbing Safa: Innas Safa Wal Marwata Min Sha’airillah.
That means: ” indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah.”
One can make several prayers during Sa’i, including: rabbighfir warham antal a’azzul Akram.
That means, “O Lord, forgive and have mercy, You are the Most Honorable and Most Generous.”
Walking between these two hills reminds believers of Hajar’s unflinching faith in Allah’s providence.
For Halq, sometimes known as Taqsir
Shaving ( Halq) or cutting (Taqsir) the hair is the last act of Umrah. Said another way, a pilgrim should say: Allahumma Ghfirli Dhunubi Wazhub Anni Sayyi Waj’alni Minal Mutatahhireen.
That means: “O Allah, forgive my sins, remove my misdeeds, and make me among the purified.”
For the believer, this supplication marks a fresh start and atonement of sins.
Du’as generally On Umrah
It is advised to be always in recollection of Allah, read Surah Al-Fatiha, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas and ask pardon by repeating Astaghfirullah often over the road.
Sincere prayers have great worth, hence the whole Umrah should be accompanied by humility, loyalty, and thankfulness to Allah.
